Defender looks ahead to the friendly at the New Bucks Head
James Bolton and the Shrewsbury Town squad play their penultimate pre-season fixture away to AFC Telford United tonight.
The visit to the New Bucks Head will be Askey’s next chance to assess his squad before his team play their final pre-season game away at Vale Park.
“Even on Saturday we went in to try and win the game. Mainly it’s making sure we’re getting right and looking at shape and stuff like that.
“For the fans and the players it’s nice that you get to play these local teams. The lads see it as a game we need to win and the fans can have the bragging rights.”
James feels he is in good shape and feels pre-Season has put him and his team in a good position to start the season well.
“It’s been good, pre-season is always tough,” Bolton said. “I think everyone looks forward to getting into the proper League games now.
“I’m feeling good, I came in last year a little bit behind on the fitness on what the standard should be, so I have cut up a little bit and I’m used to it, so it’s good.
“I was new to the League last year and you’re still trying to find your feet but I’m feeling a bit more confident knowing that I can do it.
“Obviously we got to the final so we have been to the very peak of the League so it gives us a little bit more confidence.
“We will be ready, we have another tough game tomorrow and a tough game Saturday, which will be good for us.
Town will kick off against Telford at 7:45pm tonight at the New Bucks Head. Pay on the day is available for Town fans.
