Gaffer reflects on the signings of Doug Loft and Charlie Colkett
Town manager John Askey is pleased to have secured two signings who he feels can make an impact at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Doug Loft joins Town after a successful trial period and Charlie Colkett joins Town on a season long loan from Chelsea.
Askey was pleased to have secured the pair and gave his thoughts to shrewsweb: “Obviously he’s got quality,” said Askey. “He’s come in from Chelsea. He’s been out on loan a couple of times at Bristol and Swindon. He’s just been over in Holand.
“He’s got good pedigree, hopefully he brings that little bit of quality and energy that we will need.
“He’s somebody who can get on the ball and dictate play. He can also pick a pass and he’s got the energy to get round the park as well.
“I thought we looked one paced today, Jon was ill and wasn’t at it like he has been and will be.”
John also gave his thoughts on the other centre midfielder, Doug Loft who also signed with the Club today. “Dougie comes in with experience,” Askey said.
“He’s got a good football brain and he can get goals as well. He will be a good addition and hopefully we can get a couple more in.
“I think today he moved a lot without the ball with his football brain, knowing when to go tight and when to cut others.
“I was happy with him and again, he just needs games.
“It’s a very young squad and you need experience as well but the main thing is getting good players in.“
