Midfielder Doug Loft signs a one-year contract with Shrewsbury Town
Town are delighted to announce the signing of Doug Loft on a one year deal following on from a successful trial period with the club.
Doug joins the club with a vast amount of experience, after spells with Port Vale, Colchester and Gillingham.
Doug was pleased with the move following on from his trial period and gave his thoughts to Shrewsweb: “I’m delighted, it’s a new club, a new manager and I’m excited to play for him and really looking forward to it,” the midfielder said.
“The facilities, everything is there. They had a great season last year and we want to kick on from there and go for promotion.
“It’s a brilliant Club and everything is there and I can’t wait to get going.”
Loft suffered from injuries last season but feels fitter than he has ever been ahead of his fresh new start with Shrewsbury Town.
“Obviously I had a very frustrating year last year with injuries,” said Loft.
“I’m fitter than I’ve ever been and I’m playing some good football so lets get stared with the season.
“I feel really good. Manager has obviously given me a lot of minutes and that’s what I want and I just want to play more.
“Just work hard in the middle and play like I do. He’s watched me a lot over the years with port vale and things like that and he knows how I play.
“I know I can bring a lot to his team and I will over this season.”
Loft also described what he feels he can add to the team. He said: I’m a box-to-box midfielder and I like to get on the ball.
Obviously need to work on playing the ball and getting the ball out but there is a lot of ability in the team. Once everyone has got pre season under their belt we will be flying for the first game of the season.”
Loft joins along with Charlie Colkett who joins on loan from Chelsea.
