Okenabirhie on Spain Trip

Fejiri Okenabirhie talks about how the first few days have gone in Spain

Shrewsbury Town’s new Forward Fejiri Okenabirhie is enjoying his start to life at the club.

The 22-year-old is currently away with the squad in Spain as they continue their preparations ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Okenabirhie admits that it’s been a difficult opening few days in Valencia, but believes it will be of benefit come the start of the season.

“It’s been good, it’s been tough, a lot of hard work, but it’s been a good start to the week and I’m enjoying it so far”, said Fejiri.

“The sessions have been tough, a lot harder than what I was used to, but I’m getting into it and every day I’m getting fitter.

“Pre-season is just about getting fit, getting your sharpness, and getting ready for the start of the season, so that’s what I will be trying to do in order to make an impact at the start of the season.”

The training camp has also been a good opportunity for the players to get to know each other and Fejiri is delighted with the welcome he has received from his new teammates.

“The lads have been good, I’m settling in well, getting to know everyone and I’m just enjoying training so far”, said the former Dagenham and Redbridge striker.

“I’m sharing a room with Omar, so obviously me and him have been speaking a bit, but I’ve pretty spoke to everyone since I’ve been here, so it’s been really good to get to know everyone better.”
