Shrewsbury Town Postcode Ticket Giveaway

25 July 2018

Town to giveaway match tickets every game to one lucky postcode

Shrewsbury Town will be launching a new Postcode ticketing initiative for the 2018/19 season.

The idea sees all Season Ticket Holders entered into a game by game draw with the winning season ticket holder winning free tickets for everyone in their postcode area.

The initiative is the brainchild of the club’s CEO Brian Caldwell and he hopes it will be a way of encouraging new supporters to come along to the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

“I did describe it as one of my crazy ideas, but the reasoning behind it is that it gives season ticket holders something to hopefully encourage their friends and neighbours to come along”, said Brian.

“We’re going to do a draw this season for every league home game, where we will pick out a postcode from one of the season ticket holders and we will give everybody in that postcode free tickets for the following game here at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

“As part of the discussions we are having with the Supporters’ Parliament people, we are trying to paint the town blue and amber, so if we can give away tickets to our season ticket holders then sometimes they are our best sales people and they can encourage people to come.”

The average attendance grew by almost 1,000 last season, with nearly 20,000 more people coming to watch Shrewsbury Town games last season compared with the 2016/17 season and Brian wants to try and capitalise on that growth.

“We’re working hard to get more people to come along here”, Caldwell said.

“Crowds were up last season, which was great, but there’s a lot of room for improvement. I said when I came here that I think we could average 6,000 home fans every week and when I look at the population of Shrewsbury itself, it’s growing.

“What we are trying to do is encourage more people along and hopefully if we can encourage them along for one game then perhaps they will become regular supporters after that.”
