Town set for training camp overseas as part of preperation
The Shrewsbury Town management and players will be visiting Spain for a week long warm weather training exercise after the scheduled Pre-Season concludes.
Town enjoyed a similar trip to Portugal at the same time last year, which set the players up for a good and long campaign.
Following on from discussions with the staff, Brian Caldwell booked for a similar trip to be in place for this season.
“John (Askey) is aware we have a Pre-Season that I booked a few months ago for the squad to go to Spain for a week once the come back from Pre-Season,” The CEO said.
“It worked really well going to Portugal last year. Hopefully it was money well spent and we had a successful season, although we didn’t win anything.
“I think it’s really important for a bonding point of view more than anything else. It gets John and his staff to get into the players heads and understand what they are like away from the football.
“Whether there is a game out there is debatable to be honest. We have had discussions about whether we want to try and organise one.
“We could certainly organise one because there will be other teams out there at the same time but that depends on what John sees as the best thing for them.
“They may just want to play a game amongst them selves and hopefully we will have some more players by then so they can make it 11 a side!”
