Gaffer On Kieran Kennedy

10 June 2018

Gaffer pleased to have added Kieran to his squad

John Askey has made his second signing as the Shrewsbury Town boss.

Askey has bolstered his defence with the signing of Kieran Kenndy from his previous club Macclesfield Town

Askey has brought in Kieran Kennedy, a defender who was vital in Macclesfield’s National League triumph under John.

“I had Kieran last year,” Askey said.

“It took us about six months to get him properly fit because he had been out ill for six months, but once he was fit he was a completely different player who has got a lot of ability.

“He’s big and strong, he’s quick and I think he’s someone who could do well. I think it’s just circumstances that stopped him pushing on before.

“He’s very comfortable on the ball but he can be aggressive as well and he’s decent in the air. I think he can be a very good player for us.

“His main position is Centre Back, he can play right or left but on occasions he can step into midfield.

“The strength of the team last season was at the back and we didn’t concede many goals.

“It’s important we keep those players and Kieran coming in gives us another option if we need it.”

Kieran will join up with the squad when pre-season begins at the end of June.
