Haynes joins Town

Left-Back Ryan Haynes joins from Coventry City

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Haynes on a two-year deal from Coventry City.

The 22-year-old left-back joins for an undisclosed fee and becomes John Askey’s third signing as Shrewsbury Town boss.

Haynes was part of the Coventry City squad that gained promotion through the Sky Bet League Two Play-Offs last campaign and joins Town after Junior Brown moved in the opposite direction.

Ryan has spent his entire career with the Sky Blues, having come through the Academy, and he is looking forward to a new challenge.

“I’m really pleased to be here”, Haynes told ShrewsWeb.

“I’m happy to get started and hit the ground running. We’re in next week, so I’m looking forward to meeting all the lads and getting my first training sessions in.

“It’s a good club. I’ve just seen the training ground for the first time and it’s very nice, so I’m looking forward to getting started.

“It’s a whole new challenge for me. I’ve obviously been at Coventry since I was a very young lad, so it’s a change, it’s a new start and I’m just looking forward to getting going.

“It will be good for me. Sometimes you get comfortable at a club, so this is moving out of my comfort zone and obviously it’s a new challenge, so I’m looking forward to getting started.

“Hopefully, we can take it one step further than you did last year. It’s a very good club and obviously it’s proved that it’s a very good club, so hopefully we can progress.”

Haynes is capable of playing at left-back or left wing-back and he is hopeful that his attacking attributes will impress the fans.

“I’m known for being very attacking, that’s the main part of my game”, Ryan said.

“Don’t get me wrong I can defend as well, but I like to attack, I like to get on the ball, that’s me as a player. I might even chip in with the goals if you’re lucky, so like I said I’m just looking forward to getting going and starting back next week.”
