Kieran Kennedy joins from Macclesfield Town

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of Kieran Kennedy from Macclesfield Town.

The defender joins Town on a one year deal plus option for an undisclosed fee from Macclesfield Town and is John Askey’s second signing as the Salop boss.

Kennedy was pleased with the move and is looking forward to getting started at his new club.

“I’m delighted to be here,” said Kennedy.

“I spoke to the gaffer last week and I was really looking forward to the chance to sign.

“We did well last year in the conference, we didn’t expect to go up but we did really well and the gaffer was a big part in that so I’m delighted.

“The gaffer had a big part in my decision to come here. I spoke to him quite a lot over the summer to see what’s happening.

“I love the way he plays football. I think that helps me with my game and he was definitely a big part in it.

“This is probably the biggest move I have had because it’s first team football and I can’t wait to get started.

“The lads did really well last season and were unfortunate not to go up so hopefully we can try and emulate that.”

Kennedy gave an insight into him as a footballer and described what he feels he can bring to the team.

“I like to play out from the back and I like to get on the ball,” said the Centre Half

“Defending is the number one priority for me being a Centre Half. I like to play out from the back and I feel everything should start from the back.

“I’ve played there for pretty much all my career. I can play defensive mid as well which I did a few times last year for Macc but defiantly Centre Half is my number one position.”
