SP back the growth of the Blue Amber Army
Shrewsbury Town Football Club, the Supporters Parliament and The Blue and Amber Fanzine are encouraging a push in the new Safe Standing section for the forthcoming season.
Roger Groves, joint Chairman of the Supporters’ Parliament, wants to see the area populated with vocal and colourful fans from other areas of The Montgomery Waters Meadow.
“It’s about the choice and everyone does have the choice, but The Blue Amber Army has certainly gathered some momentum,” Roger said.
“Some of the guys from blocks 18 and 19 have really got behind it, the likes of Justin and Jeff and many, many others.
“We’re going to have a great atmosphere and it is about that Blue Amber Army. It’s not a closed group; it’s a very open group.
“That’s why I’m involved with the Supporters Parliament. It’s an open door policy and we want everybody involved, we want everybody’s ideas.
“We have had dialog with Salopcast, Super Blues and Blue & Amber Fanzine, everybody is involved with it and that’s what I want as a Shrewsbury Town supporter.”
Despite not ending the season on the high, the fans were vocal throughout last season and Roger wants to see that continue in the club’s next campaign,
“Charlton was an experience that was greater than many games I have experienced over the years, the atmosphere was fantastic,” Roger said.
“At home we have an opportunity to create a real vibrant atmosphere behind the goal and really get behind the team going forward.
“This season didn’t end as we wanted it to but that’s behind us now. Let’s move forward and let’s look forward. Let’s get The Blue Amber Army going and give the new manager and the players the best opportunity to experience that.
“We should all look forward to next season, the club is in a great place. Brian, John and the Chairman are doing everything they can to keep the momentum going from last season and we as supporters have got our part to play in that.
“We showed last season that we can create a great atmosphere but here at the Montgomery Waters Meadow and away from home as well, let’s keep that going and get behind it.”
