Alex Rodman Pre Northampton Town

Rodman looks head to Northampton clash

Shrewsbury Town Winger Alex Rodman admits that the confidence in the group is high ahead of tonight’s game at Northampton Town.

Town produced a stunning comeback victory against Scunthorpe on Saturday, with Jon Nolan and Stefan Payne grabbing second-half goals in the 2-1 win.

That result means that Town have now won five away games in a row and Rodman is pleased with how things are going.

“It’s a great stat to have”, said Alex.

“I think confidence is high throughout the whole squad. We are in a great patch of form, we’ve just got to a final at Wembley and we are second in the league with a game in hand, so confidence is there regardless of whether it’s home or away.

“Personally, home and away doesn’t make much difference. I love playing at home. We had a fortress at home at the start of the season and we are obviously doing well away from home as well, so it’s a good patch all round.”

Northampton are having a difficult season and slipped into the relegation zone after a 3-0 victory on Saturday. Alex is wary of a potential backlash from the Cobblers and believes it will be important to start quickly.

“I saw they lost quite heavily (on Saturday)”, Rodman said.

“By all accounts it’s a good pitch, so hopefully we can play our type of football that we want to play, but these next 10 games until the end of the season are all going to be tough games, so we will treat it the same as if it was a top of the table clash.

“They are obviously not in a great run of form and their fans will be getting edgy, so if we can score an early goal, like we did against Walsall, then that always helps and we tend to kick-on once we’ve done that.”
