Paul Hurst asks fans to come down to tonight's Checkatrade Trophy Semi-Final
Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst has urged fans to come down to the Montgomery Waters Meadow for tonight's Checkatrade Trophy Semi-Final against Yeovil Town.
The Checkatrade Trophy has been subject to a boycott from some fans over the last couple of seasons and Hurst is aware of the worries that fans have, but he believes that their support tonight could help the team get to Wembley.
“For me, you’ve got to be so careful because if you’re a Shrewsbury Town fan, when’s the next time you’re going to go to Wembley?
“I understand that we’ve been there a few times in our history, but you never know, it might be the last time if we do manage to get there.
“I’d like people to come to the Semi-Final to help cheer us on, so that at least people have got that option of going to Wembley.
“I understand people’s principles and things like that, but I know that if I was a supporter of a team that has a chance to go to Wembley, I’d want to go to that game.
“I think the competition’s constantly getting looked into in terms of its format and questions are asked, but now we are a game away, let’s try and put things aside.
“I know some people won’t do that but I hope that we do get a decent crowd in and try and really cheer the team on to get to that final.”
Tickets for tonight’s game are priced at just £5 for adults and £1 for concessions. For full ticket details click here.
