A look at how our players are getting on away from the club
George Hughes was the only Shrewsbury player to come out on the winning side this weekend as Clitheroe beat Brighouse Town 3-2 on Saturday. Brighouse took an early lead but Clitheroe responded with three first-half goals from Joe Mitchell, Jack Egan and Kurt Willoughby. Brighouse grabbed a second late on but Clitheroe hung on for a win which leaves them eighth in the Evo-Stick Northern First Division table.
It was a weekend to forget for AJ Leitch-Smith’s Dundee side as they were beaten 4-0 at home by St. Johnstone. It was St. Johnston’s biggest win of the season with the goals coming from a Jordan Piggott own goal, two from Chris Kane and one from Blair Alston. After the game tempers flared as Dundee manager Neil McCann got embroiled in an argument with the St. Johnstone backroom staff. The result means that Dundee drop to 10th, five points behind Saturday’s opponents.
Finally, John McAtee didn’t get any game time this weekend as AFC Telford United’s game at home to Spennymoor Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. They are scheduled to take on Southport away on Tuesday night.
