Luke Hendrie Pre Scunthorpe United

Hendrie looks ahead to Scunthorpe away game

Shrewsbury Town defender Luke Hendrie believes that the squad is in good shape going into tomorrow’s game against Scunthorpe United.

Town have won their last three in all competitions without conceding a goal, including a win over local rivals Walsall last time out, and Luke admits that the confidence is high.

“It was a good win against Walsall”, said Hendrie.

It wasn’t our best performance, but at this stage of the season it’s just all about getting the wins. If you ask any manager they would take three points over performance at this stage in the season and hopefully we can continue to do that.

Town’s last game on the road was a 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic and Hendrie would love to emulate that result on the weekend.

“I think we just go into any game knowing that we can win if we can perform to our best”, Luke said.

“Charlton are obviously a good team but we went there and played well, probably the best performance since I’ve been here and hopefully we can continue that form on Saturday.

“Scunthorpe have had a good season but recently they’ve been a bit up and down, although they could have beaten Wigan last weekend.

“We will respect them, do our homework, but we will be going there to try and get the three points.”

Luke has already played against Scunthorpe this season when he was at Bradford City, so he knows what to expect from the Lincolnshire based side.

“They are quite a physical team and play two strikers upfront”,

“They are not afraid to get it long but they’ve got some good players in midfield as well in (Josh) Morris and Duane Holmes, so we are aware of their threats, but we’ve got to look after ourselves and make sure we play well.”
