2018/19 the first season that Safe Standing season tickets will be on sale
2018/19 will be the first season that Shrewsbury Town fans will be able to buy season tickets in the safe standing area. Shrewsbury Town made history this year by being the first club in English League football to get permission to install a safe standing area.
The Salop Leisure Stand will house 550 safe standing units from row M through to the back of the stand, allowing supporters to safely stand and watch Town.
Season tickets for the safe standing area will go on sale on Wednesday 7th March at the same time as 2018/19 season tickets go on sale. Supporters whose existing seat is in the safe standing area will get the first option to keep their existing seat. If they wish to move to another area of the stand or the stadium the ticket office will help them to do this.
All other available seats in the safe standing area will go on general sale straight away. The area will be clearly marked for online sales and the ticket office staff will be able to advise supporters who come to the ticket office.
The safe standing season tickets will be a different colour from existing season tickets to make identification easy.
Town CEO Brian Caldwell is excited about Shrewsbury Town being first club to offer standing.
“Those in the affected areas are row M all the way to the back of the Salop Leisure Stand and some people have already moved because they don’t want to be in that area”, said Brian.
“Moving forward there will be a new colour of season ticket for that area, which will distinguish them from anybody in the normal seated areas.
“We will obviously give preference to those who are season ticket holders already in that area and then we will look at moving as many people as we can into that area.
“We are talking to the council at the moment about whether we will be able to sell those spaces on a game by game basis, but the best way to guarantee your space is to buy a season ticket.”
