Hurst Calls for the 12th Man To Help On Sunday

11 May 2018

Gaffer hoping for bumper crowd for important play-off semi final second leg

Town’s first semi final game in the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs saw Shrews beating Charlton Athletic one nil through a Jon Nolan Volley to give the homeside a narrow advantage going into Sunday's second leg.

777 Salopian’s made the trip down to The Valley despite the 350 mile round trip on a Thursday night and the game being televised live.

Town will be hoping to match or better the first result and force their way into the Play-Off final at Wembley.

Paul was pleased with the support and feels his team will need that backing once again at The Montgomery Waters Meadow for the second leg on Sunday against a tough side, he said: “If we don’t get a full house on Sunday, we never will. I hope we do.

“We need them to really get behind the team but I don’t want them to turn up thinking they’re coming for a party. We hope that that’s the case at the end of game but before that we need them.

“We need the fans to understand that Charlton will have their moments during the game and I think it will be another nail biting experience for the fans and probably most people connected with Shrewsbury Town.”

Paul and his team are raring to go on Sunday and are looking to put on another good performance to see Town through to the final.

“Naturally you are excited but like I said I find it difficult to get too carried away. I’m proud of the players tonight and I want to be even prouder come Sunday,” said Hurst.
