Gaffer reflects on the Play-Off Final
Paul Hurst’s men fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Rotherham United in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off final.
Town will be disappointed as Alex Rodman’s second half equaliser was not enough for Town to prevent The Millers going on to win the game in extra time.
“To lose two set plays, I said to the players before the game that’s one thing we need to be good at. To concede twice and with the penalty, youre going to wonder if it’s going to be your day.
“All I would say is congratulations to Warne, Richy and the rest of the lads and Rotherham football club. The three teams that came down have gone back up.”
Despite the loss at the final stage, Paul is proud of his player’s effort and commitment over the course of the long season.
“I’m extremely proud of the group of player that I’ve got. It’s almost not a proper game of football at the end,” said Hurst.
“I said to the players to go home and be proud with what they have done this season. We didn’t get that fairy tail ending we wanted but to have competed in this division with what we set thinking might be possible is an outstanding achievement.
“I feel for the fans and the Chairman. We lived a dream for a long, long time and it has been taken away from us.
“We have to dust ourselves down and have a break. We have certainly deserved it and it wont be long until we’re back and running around trying to get fit."
