Gaffer's Thoughts Ahead Of Play-Off Semi Final Second Leg
Paul Hurst and his men face Charlton Athletic at The Montgomery Waters Meadow stadium on Sunday evening, in the second leg of the Play-Off semi final.
Hurst’s men ran out one nil victors upon their visit to The Valley, giving Town a slight advantage in the reverse leg.
Hurst is expecting a tough game from The Addicks, who will come to Shrewsbury with the aim of coming back from a one-goal deficit. Town have a fully fit squad to choose from.
“We’re looking forward to the game, not in terms of getting carried away with it but it’s another challenge for the players. My message is can they replicate a similar performance again and back it up,” Said Hurst.
“We know Charlton are going to come into it a little bit hurt and wanting to do everything they can to get the goal at some point that gets them back in the tie and if they score they’ll feel they’re the ones with a bit of momentum in the game.
“We know it’s going to be difficult and I said that right from the start. We have given ourselves a chance and that was the idea.
“It would be great if we could be celebrating come whatever time the game finishes because it will create some nice scenes and memories. But there is a hell of a lot of hard work that needs to go in before we contemplate that.”
Hurst understands what is on the line for the club and feels the Town support can help spur his team onto a victory, he said: “It will be an excellent atmosphere, but as I eluded to the other night I don’t want the fans turning up thinking they’re coming to see us get through and think it’s going to be easy.
“100% it wont be easy, it will be nail biting, it will be tense but they will be spurring the lads on with their support.”
Town will welcome Charlton to The Montgomery Waters Meadow tomorrow afternoon for the 5:15 kick off Play-Off semi final.
