Danny Coyne post Rochdale

17 November 2018

Danny Coyne reflects on Town's 3-2 win over Rochdale.

Shrewsbury Town ran out 3-2 winners over this weekend’s visitors Rochdale.

Ollie Norburn and Fejiri Okenabirhie were the two on hand with the goals to give Town all three points.

Danny Coyne was pleased with the victory and was happy with his team’s performance.

“It was a rollercoaster really,” Coyne said. “It was a fantastic result at the end of the day.

“With the victory on Tuesday, this backs that up as well. I am made up for the lads - they were superb today with the effort that they put in.

“The shift everyone put in was different class. I am delighted for all of them in there today. It was just nice to get a win at home.

“We said before the game that if it doesn’t go our way we shouldn’t panic and keep our composure.”

“With the way we press we knew we would be able to nick things from them and create chances.”

Coyne was also pleased with the two goal scorer’s efforts during the game.

“Fejiri is a natural goal scorer,” Coyne said. “He will score goals and that’s why I try to get him on the pitch all the time.

“I can see what he does in training. He looks to score all the time and he can run in behind as well.

“Ollie took the penalty and he buried it. On the edge of the box again – this is what he does.

“From the edge of the box he can score. I know it was a deflected goal, but if you don’t shoot it’s never going to go in.

“It was positive from him again today, so I am delighted for him. It’s the first time he’s managed a brace in his career, so I am made up.”

Town next take on Salford City in the FA Cup first-round replay.
