Fejiri Okenabirhie post Rochdale

18 November 2018

Fejiri Okenabirhie looks back at Town's 3-2 win over Rochdale.

Shrewsbury Town welcomed Rochdale to the Montgomery Waters Meadow yesterday afternoon.

Ollie Norburn and Fejiri Okenabirhie were the two goal scorers on hand to give Town all three points.

Okenabirhie was happy to have scored but more pleased his side took all three points.

“It was a great day,” Okenabirhie said. “Firstly to get the win and it was a big three points.

“To get my first goal topped it all off, so it was a good win.

“We showed good character to come back, so credit to the boys. Everyone put in a shift today, which got us the win.

“We wanted to get back into the game as quick as we could. The goal came against the run of play.

“We had to just stick to what we were doing and we got back in the game and went on to win, so credit to the boys.

“As a striker you always want to score and it was great to get the goal – we needed it at the time as well.”

Okenabirhie hopes this win can help his team to build momentum going forward.

“We have a good group of players here,” the forward said. “We have all just got to keep working hard and pushing in the right direction.

“Hopefully now we can keep pushing up the table and push forward now.

“The fans have been with us all the way through, even when we were down 2-1 you could hear them pushing us on.

“It was great to come back for them, because they have been supporting us the whole season – even if we haven’t had the best results.

“Hopefully today was the start of us paying them back.

“Hopefully we can push on and I can push on for the rest of the season.”

Town next take on Salford City in the FA Cup first-round replay away at the Peninsula Stadium.
