22 November 2018

Fejiri Okenabirhie reflects on Town's 3-1 win over Salford City.

Shrewsbury Town took on Salford City in the Emirates FA Cup first-round replay yesterday evening.

Town managed to leave the Peninsula stadium with a 3-1 win, seeing Town into the next round.

Fejiri Okenabirhie was happy to have helped the team to a win but was more pleased see Town into the next round.

“It was another good win for us,” Fejiri said. “I think it was deserved. We put in a great team performance, so we are happy to be into the next round of the cup.

“I thought first-half we were really good and we had a lot of chances and their keeper pulled off a few chances.

“It was good to get that opening goal that settled us down and that gave us the platform to go on and win.

“It was a great goal from Docherty and it was at a time when we needed it. It was a deserved goal that was part of a good win.”

Fejiri was pleased to see his team defend well against the home sides barrage of attacks during the final stages of the game.

“It came out of the blue really,”Fejiri said. “They were hitting long balls into our box and it fell on the head of one of their players.

“I thought we handled it well, we stood up and dug in with everything they threw at us and we got the goal at the end to seal the win. Credit to the boys.

“The supporters were great. Every game they are always behind us - home and away.

“It was nice to score in front of them and to send them home happy.

“We have just got to keep working hard and hopefully I can get some more between now and the end of the season.”
