Mat Sadler pre Rochdale

16 November 2018

Mat Sadler looks ahead to Town's fixture with Rochdale.

Shrewsbury Town return to Sky Bet League One action this weekend as Town take on Rochdale.

Town will be looking to make it two wins on the bounce as the Dale visit the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Sadler was pleased to see Danny Coyne's men pick up a win on Tuesday night in the Checkatrade Trophy game against Crewe.

"Yes delighted for the lads and delighted for Danny to get off the mark, obviously the last time he took charge he didn't smell that winning success so it's great that it came straight away.

"I have nothing but admiration for Danny, he's a top bloke and really one of the good guys in football. Ably Assisted by Eric, although I've not had the chance to work with him apart from this morning, I knew he was really highly thought of, he's got every qualification under the sun and a real asset to the Academy first and foremost but a real asset for us to lean on for however long it will be."

"Training was intense as you'd expect it to be and as I say Eric's credentials are second to none in the game and you can see why, very detailed, you know exactly what he's talking about and I think the lads responded in the training session.

"It was tough, it was hard and enjoyable. I had to have a shower straight after the session."

Mat told Shrewsweb what he expects of Town's next opponents Rochdale who currently sit 16th in the Sky Bet League One table two places above Shrewsbury.

"Rochdale are always full of energy. They always play for their manager. They work hard, they run hard and they play football. They like to do things the right way.

"They'll want to build on the position they're in at the moment and make sure they're not in any sort of a scrap that they were last season.

"They're a dangerous team, a team that knows their level and a manager that knows their level.

"It's a home game in the league which is always important. Whatever team goes out there we want to put on a performance for Danny and Eric and of course the fans.

"With the changes that have been made this week and what's been thrust upon them, they're good guys so we want to put in a performance for them."

Sadler is looking to make it back to back wins for Town. "They're the things that shoot you up the division. There are teams in and around us that we're playing in the next few weeks, people jostling for positions and points to be won."
