Steve Arnold pre Salford City

9 November 2018

Steve Arnold looks ahead to Town's fixture with Salford City.

Shrewsbury Town take on the National League’s Salford City in the first round of the FA Cup.

Askey’s men will be looking to make it two wins on the bounce with a win over the Ammies this Sunday.

Town goalkeeper Steve Arnold was pleased with the result last time out and hopes his team find a consistency going forward.

“It was a big win – an important win,” Arnold said. “First-half we could have done a lot better.

“The conditions were testing, especially for a back four or five with the sun being so low.

“It was always going to be difficult and to go a goal behind was disappointing.

“Credit to us, we came out second-half and changed the game. Like I said it was a big, big win for everyone around the football club.

“We need to do that from the get-go, we need to do it as soon as we step over that white line.

“We need to do it 100% all the time. We just need to keep going now.”

Town next take on Salford City. Arnold is expecting a tough test from the National League side.

“It’s going to be a tough game – a very tough game,” the goalkeeper said. “A club from the National League, I know what they’re about.

“They will work their socks off. They have some big players.

“We have just got to be on it. We can’t treat them like a team from two leagues below us.

“It’s a game we want to be winning to get us into the next round. We want to keep that momentum going.

“They are up there in their league, so like I said we need to be on it. We can’t let off now.

“The players that we have got will be on it and ready to work.”
