Gaffer and Skipper Praise Support

Walsall following a big help to the team on Tuesday night

Shrewsbury Town took on Walsall on Tuesday night at the Banks’s stadium in the Sky Bet League One.

806 Town fans made the trip for the Derby match, including the Town Chairman and CEO.

The Town manager, John Askey, praised the fans post match for their tremendous support on the road.

“I think everybody who watched would have found it an entertaining game,” the gaffer said. “The supporters turned up in their numbers again and were fantastic as they are at home.

“Hopefully they have gone home happy, I’m sure they would have been happier if we got the three points, but at least they have gone home seeing a good game.”

Town captain Mat Sadler was also pleased to see a high number of Town fans in the away end.

“I don’t expect any less when they all get together at an away game like this,” Sadler said.

“That’s what they give you. We didn’t give them the opportunity to get the flare out like last season, which is a shame. I would have liked to see that.

“They were with us from the start and when they are behind us it helps.”
