Greg Docherty Pre Walsall

Greg Docherty looks ahead to Town's fixture with Walsall

Shrewsbury Town’s next Sky Bet League One fixture is a local Derby against Walsall.

Town travel to Walsall’s Banks’s stadium for the 7:45pm kick off this evening.

Town were unlucky not to take all three points last time out against Gillingham, and Town midfielder Greg Docherty was disappointed to concede so late in the day.

“First half we didn’t start and we didn’t get going,” Docherty told Shrewsweb. “They seemed to come out of the blocks quicker than us, which was disappointing.

“It’s frustrating but sometimes that’s just what happens I think second-half we really took the game to them and we should have been two or three clear.

“They shouldn’t have been in a position where they can come and equalise so late on.”

Docherty is looking forward to the fixture with Walsall and feels his side have enough to beat the Saddlers.

“From what I gather – last year it was a tasty fixture,” Docherty said. “I am looking forward to that, I relish that.

“I was involved in a smaller derby when I came through at Hamilton and we played Motherwell. They were very intense with a lot of big tackles and there is demand from the fans.

“I know what it’s like. I have been on the winning side and the losing side of derbies.

“Being involved with the Old Firm derby I know exactly what they’re about - I love a derby, they’re my favourite games and I look forward to them the most.

“I think for us we need to win, it’s not a good result unless we win.

“We should be dominating the full game and that’s what we need to go and do and take our game to them - I’m really looking forward to it.”
