INTERVIEW: Lifumpa Mwandwe

11 October 2018

Lifumpa Mwandwe has signed professional terms with the club.

The young forward has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him stay with the club until at least 2020, with a years option in the clubs favour. Mwandwe told Shrewsweb how delighted he was to sign pro for the club.

"it's a good moment for me and my family who have invested so much time into my football. Taking me to train every day after school"

"What your brother does you really want to do to as well. He got into football so I thought why not get into it as well. Obviously, I was lucky enough to sign for Shrewsbury when I was 14 and bounced on from there"

Mwandwe explained how Shrewsbury will always be close to his heart. "They were the one that gave me my chance in academy football and now professional football as well."

Fumpa also gave an insight into what he will be trying to achieve at first team level. "I will try and push on for maybe a League One debut and try and get some goals hopefully."

"John Askey wished me well and said the hard work starts now which is completely true it's a big step up from youth team football."

"I think this step up is going to make a lot more physical also a lot more fast-paced, so it will improve my fitness. It will be mentally tough out there so it should improve that as well."
