Gaffer reflects on his sides 0-0 draw with Walsall

Shrewsbury Town took a well-deserved point from this evening’s fixture against Walsall.

Neither team could nick a goal and Town took a point away from the Banks’s stadium.

Town gaffer John Askey was pleased to earn a point on the road but feels his team should have taken all three.

“It was very open,” Askey said. “From my point of view I was pleased with the amount of chances we created. Why they aren’t going in I don’t know.

“At the moment they are just not going in. I tried to start with as many forward thinking players as possible.

We still weren’t able to finish it off or get a goal. It’s still a good point away at Walsall.

“They are a strong outfit and have been doing well. We came here hoping to get the three points.

“We created chances. At times we passed the ball quite well, at times we didn’t and made wrong decisions, but who ever we have played we have more than matched and we did tonight.”

Askey was disappointed to have not scored, but is pleased his side created chances.

“Shaun had a chance, but blazed it over,” the gaffer said post match. “Ollie Norburn had a few chances, Lee Angol with one or two headers, but there was that many I cant remember all of them.

“It’s difficult from the side to see if they’re clear cut chances, but that’s how it went and I think everybody who watched would have found it an entertaining game.

“I’d be more concerned if we weren’t creating chances. On Saturday we scored two, again we created a lot of chances and should have converted more.

“When they do start going in we could end up winning by four or five.”

Town next take on Accrington in the next Sky Bet League One fixture.
