John Askey pre Barnsley

John Askey looks ahead to Town's fixture with Barnsley.

Shrewsbury Town take on Barnsley tomorrow evening in the Sky Bet League One.

Town will be looking to bounce back immediately and secure all three points against tomorrow’s visitors.

John Askey was disappointed with the result last time out, but hopes to see more of the positive moments from the previous tie in tomorrow’s fixture.

“I was pleased with the effort from the players,” said Askey. “I thought we did well in what we set out to do and then a freak goal changed the game.

“I think the disappointment from the game is we didn’t create enough chances really.

“Overall, I thought against a good side it wasn’t a bad performance.

“I watched the game back and I don’t think they really troubled our goalkeeper at all.

“We came out for the second-half and there wasn’t a great deal in it and then the goal changes things.

“We have got to find a way of scoring goals and we aren’t doing that enough.”

Askey is looking forward to the fixture with Barnsley and is hoping his team find their shooting boots.

“We have just got to keep working, keep putting balls into the box and hopefully someone will get on the end of it and make things happen,” Askey said.

“A quick game is what you want. You don’t want to be twiddling your thumbs for another week having not got the win on the Saturday.

“We are looking forward to getting out there on Tuesday and trying to re-do what we did on Saturday but score some goals.

“Barnsley are probably the best footballing team in the league that I have seen.

“It will be tough on Tuesday, but there is nobody yet who has taken us apart, so we have to take the positives from that.

“We need to keep going, keep working and perhaps a little bit harder to make it happen.”
