Laurent reflects on Town's 2-1 loss to Fleetwood
Laurent was Town’s only goal scorer in the game as his second half goal looked to spark a fightback from Town. However they couldn’t double their tally and the game ended in a frustrating loss. After the match Josh spoke to Shrewsweb about his reaction to the game,
“Very Sad and very disappointed. It’s obviously not nice losing games and I think the way we lost it made it worse as well.
“We’ve just got to be better as a team, and have more fight about us.”
Laurent admits it took them a while to get going. “First 30 minutes especially, we just didn’t start at all. I think we start slow every week and this week we got punished for it.
“We’ve got to battle more and earn the right to play, I didn’t think we did that first 30 minutes of the game.”
“The Second goal killed us. I think if we go in one nil down at half time you can properly re-group and go again. But the second goal really made it an up hill battle.”
“Second half was better for me but I don’t think it was in terms of quality, but I don’t think it was that type of game. I think it was a game for competing and fighting and we didn’t do that at all in the first half.”
“Individually you have got to fight and earn the right to play.”
“We haven’t lost many games but we certainly need to win more.”
Josh was pleased to get a goal but is now striving to kick on from here and add more goals to his game. “100% from the start of the season I said to myself you need to chip in more. But first and foremost individually I don't think we competed enough and that’s something we have to do first before I can start thinking about getting in the box and scoring goals.”
“I honestly thought when we scored that we might go on and win this. That’s just the belief I had. It was horrible conditions and we just sat back. We nearly got there in the end with half chances maybe on another day it goes in.”
Town face Sunderland and Barnsley next at home. Laurent is confident the team can produce a result against them. “They’re games you look forward to. I personally believe and most of the lads believe we’ve got enough to get two wins and that’s what we’re going to go for.”
