Luke Waterfall post Barnsley

24 October 2018

Luke Waterfall reflects on Town's 3-1 win over Barnsley.

Shrewsbury Town ran out 3-1 winners over last nights visitors Barnsley.

Askey’s men enjoyed a fast start to the game and managed to put three goals past the Tykes.

Luke Waterfall was pleased with the win and felt his team deserved all three points.

“It’s been a long time coming to be fair,” said Waterfall. “The lads have been working their socks off.

“We have been desperate for that win, especially at home, so it’s been a long time coming.

“The lads are delighted in there, but we need to stay grounded - it’s only one win and there is a long way to go.

“We have to back this up on Saturday against Oxford as well.

“We have to build on this and keep building and try to put a good run together.

“It was nice for us to go one nil up for a change. They managed to get one back but we settled back down and managed to get the goal to go 3-1 up.”

Waterfall was happy with the Town performance and was pleaded to have helped the team with a goal.

“We said at half time the next goal is important,” said Waterfall. “When they went and got it I suppose everyone was a bit nervous.

“We managed to stay quite relaxed and calm and we had to ride a bit of a storm. They were always going to come out fast after a rollicking at half time.

“We managed to stick in there and get the third goal.

“My goal has been a long time coming. I like to think when I get up there I am able to get on the end of things.

“It’s been a long time coming and I was glad to open my account and hopefully there will be a few more this season.”

Town next take on Oxford United away at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
