Alex Gilliead looks ahead to Town's fixture with Gillingham

Shrewsbury Town face off with Gillingham this weekend at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Town will be looking to take all three points, after losing out last time to Scunthorpe United.

Town winger Alex Gilliead was disappointed with the manner of the defeat at Scunthorpe and hopes his team can improve.

“I think obviously from the week before when we played Southend we played well and we thought we ticked a lot of boxes and done a lot of good things, Gilliead told Shrewsweb. “

“From Scunthorpe we felt we didn’t start well and we didn’t play as well as we could have.

“It’s another chance to go and put it right again tomorrow and we are all feeling good about doing that.

“In this league you need to have a good home form and it’s something we feel we can do. We feel like we do play well at home and away.

“At home especially we feel like we have played well, we just need to turn our draws into wins.”

Gilliead is expecting a tough game from the Gills who are in a similar position to Town.

“I think we can expect a tough battling team,” Gilliead said in his pre-match interview. “They haven’t started particularly well in their season either.

“They are a team that will come and battle and obviously try to win the game. They will throw everything at us, but I think for us we just have to focus on what we do best.

“We have got to take the positives from recent performances and try to replicate that tomorrow and get the three points.

“They are around us, so we have just got to focus on us and try to get the best out of ourselves.

“We have been working hard in training. Everyone is wanting to play and there is a lot of competition for places, so what ever team the gaffer puts out – I’m sure everyone will be trying to get the three points.”
