Jack Atkinson Post Fleetwood Town

10 September 2018

Jack Atkinson reflects on his side's 0-0 draw against Fleetwood Town

Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Jack Atkinson was in the starting line-up for the first time in three matches after suffering from an injury. Atkinson made some good saves in the game that ensured the team came away with a point.

“I thought I played well today, I made some important saves. The distribution was good, especially against the wind. I made some good decisions on the ball and tried to get us playing out but mostly for the saves."

“The save in the first half was very good, on to the post.”

With the side also managing to keep a clean sheet, Atkinson praised his defence, as well as the opposition.

“We defended really well today, they were a really tough opposition. They will be fighting for the top spot along with us, Wigan and teams like that. The opposition were very good and we were compact and solid, we looked solid all over the pitch really."

“The defensive unit though were really good; it was a really good shape. There were no risks on the ball and we won everything in the air I would say.”

Asked on whether he is hoping to start the next game, he replied: “I certainly am. I hope so anyway.”
