Askey reflects on Town's loss to Scunthorpe United.
Shrewsbury Town travelled to Glanford Park this afternoon to face off with Scunthorpe United.
Town were unable to take any points away from The Iron, as Lee Novak put the home side in front in the 55th minute.
The Town boss, John Askey, was disappointed with the result, but felt his team should have taken more from the tie.
“I’m obviously very disappointed,” Askey said post match. “We didn’t get up high enough and that’s how they have come to score.
“We were lethargic for what ever reason in the first 10 minutes of the second-half.
“When we changed it we looked like we were going to get a goal and we should have scored.
“I think the best chance was from Greg Docherty where he put it to the other side. I think there was a penalty before that for us, I can’t stand here and complain about referees.
“It was a frustrating performance really. There were a lot of things that were good, but we have come away with nothing.”
Despite losing out Askey feels his side were the better team first-half and is disappointed by the end result.
“I thought we were the better team first-half,” Askey said. “We should have gone in scoring at least one, we haven’t.
“They were obviously going to come out and compete a little bit more, which we should have expected and we didn’t.
“It’s a set back. I can’t say the performance was poor, we have got to take heart that we have come away again, against a decent team and more than matched them.”
Town have an opportunity to bounce back this Saturday, as we welcome Gillingham to the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
