John Filan looks ahead to Town's away trip to Scunthorpe United

Shrewsbury Town next face Scunthorpe United away from home in Town’s next Sky Bet League One fixture.

Askey and his team will travel to Glanford Park on Saturday looking to add another three points to their tally.

Town’s Assistant Manager, John Filan, was pleased with the performance last time out and hopes his team can build on their recent success.

“I am obviously very pleased we got the win,” Filan said. “I thought the players worked really hard again, we have had several really good performances.

“Individual incidents have cost us points in games we probably thought we should have won or could have won.

“To get the first win was great and was a reward for weeks of work by the players and the staff, it sets us up to go into the next game.

“The lads have been excellent from day one for the manager and the staff. Confidence is a big thing, when you are playing well, not winning games and getting the points you possibly deserve – then it starts to weigh on you a little bit.

“In that regard from a mental point of view it was important and the three points are important. It shows the players that what we are doing and what they’re doing and believing in - is the right way to go.”

Filan is expecting a tough test from Stuart McCall’s Scunthorpe United who currently sit in 15th place.

“I don’t think there is any easy games in this league,” John told Shrewsweb. “Scunthorpe is always a difficult fixture.

“The manager is experienced and is getting his team to play the way he wants, but our manager’s focus has always been on us.

“You can only affect the things you are in control of, so that’s our players and how we are playing.

“The players have been excellent and we are looking to continue that on Saturday.”

Pay on the day is available at an increased cost for Town fans.
