Gaffer On Loans

21 September 2018

Gaffer on Zak Jules and Christos Shelis loan moves.

Zak has joined National League side Barnet on loan until the end of December. Manager John Askey explained to Shrewsweb why he thought this loan deal was important for Zak’s progression.

“Obviously Zak’s not featured at all really since he’s come to the football club so it’s good for him and its good for the club that he can get out and go and play some football.”

“He can go and show what he can do, he’s at that age where he need to go and play. It’s important we try and keep all of our players match fit.”

Christos Shelis joins Halesowen on loan. Askey said he was “Keen for all the youngsters to get out and play as much football as possible”

“If he does well then other clubs will look at him at a higher level.”

Shelis has recently returned from spending time with the Cyprus national team.

“It was a good experience for him and he’s enjoyed his time out in Cyprus. I think he plays again for them in October so he’s getting good match practice and it can only do him good.”

Askey told Shrewsweb that even though they are going out on loan he will still be keeping a keen eye on their progress.

“Yeah thats what happened with Ryan Sears, he did well at Telford and came in for the one game and did really well. Even though he has missed training due to a small operation Ryan has shown the rest that if you do well you have every chance of coming back and becoming a regular.”

Good luck to Zak and Christos.
