Omar Beckles looks ahead to Saturday's game against Portsmouth

Shrewsbury Town head to Fratton Park on Saturday looking to build on their 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers last Saturday.

Omar Beckles has been a popular choice for John Askey in his starting line-up. Beckles is looking to continue his good form going into the game, but admits it will be a tough game against Portsmouth who are second in League One.

"It always is a tough test when we go to their ground. It can be intimidating at times. We're building on our confidence. Hopefully we can rise to the occasion, sometimes it's good going into the game as the underdog”

Beckles knows what its like to be part of a team that everyone wants to beat. “When seasons start and the in form teams take their way to the top, its always the underdogs that look at that and be like this is a chance to prove our point and this was us last season”

“There's no one to be afraid of.”

“It's only a matter of time before we get three points on the board”

Beckles was impressed by Ryan Sears debut last Saturday.
“Seeing him play against the likes of Rodman and keeping him quiet, I thought he did really well, so it was good for him, the occasion and the nerves but I thought he had a good game”

“We all had our bit to say to him before the game and during the game, it's not just at the back though you've got the likes of Shaun Whalley infront of him who plays well and works hard.”

“There's no reason for it to be doom and gloom. We want to get more points on the board. But I think everyone can tell we're finding the right form and what works for us.

"We're stepping away from our games that we've created chances and dominated most periods of the game, thinking we're not far away.”
