Nearly 100 tickets taken for the opening home Sky Bet League One games
Shrewsbury Town’s Postcode giveaway has been a success with a number of fans taking up the offer of free tickets to the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Over the first three games, 40 people have utilised the vouchers and have had the chance to visit the Montgomery Waters Meadow free of charge due to the draw.
The Town CEO, Brian Caldwell, is pleased the initiative is working well and is happy that the draw giving people a chance to visit the stadium.
“The idea was to try and get new supporters along,” Brian told Shrewsweb.
“I’m delighted that in three games we have managed to attract 40 people who live in the same street as a season ticket holder.
“Hopefully the new fans have enjoyed it and they might come back and tell everybody else about the experience and what a family club we are.
“It has been a good atmosphere as well. With the safe standing as well we have improved the atmosphere here.
“If we have 40 new supporters coming along - potentially there is an opportunity to get some of them back.
“As long as we continue with our strides that we are doing: with the youth group offer, with the work in the community department and getting the children under 12 getting in free – then we need to build a fan base for the future.”
