CEO Pleased With Safe Standing sales in the opening games to the season
Shrewsbury Town’s safe standing section has been a success with Town fans being the first in the country to enjoy safe standing.
Brian Caldwell is pleased with how the section has played out and has been impressed with the atmosphere coming from the Town fans.
“The people who have been in the safe standing have been brilliant,” Brian said. “People have commented to me who sit in other areas of the stadium saying how the match-day experience has improved with the atmosphere.
“I spoke to one season ticket holder who sits a few rows in front of the safe standing and he said it has totally changed the whole south stand for the better because the atmosphere is much better.
“I think when the winter comes and the wind blows in the opposite direction, hopefully it will drown out the away supporters as well.”
Brian stated that fans are able to try the area for one game and make the permanent switch later on.
“We have had quite a number move from block 19 in the first couple of games in the season, just to try it out and some have moved and stayed, which is great,” Brian said.
“That is what we are trying to achieve. We want to attract that area to be somewhere to be for the future, where people want to be and stand where the atmosphere is.
“All the guys who have been involved have made sure it works well and we will continue to work closely with the Supporters Parliament and the fans to give them what they want and to try and help that atmosphere.
“It’s great to get feedback from people in the main stand, the west stand and the south stand saying how the atmosphere has improved because they guys have been singing and banging that drum to make sure that the team get the backing that they want.
“We want people to try it and we want people to have a look at it. Hopefully, we can encourage that area to be as busy as possible. It has definitely improved and I think people have enjoyed it.”
