Friday Fixture For U18s

11 April 2019

Shrewsbury U18’s will be looking to extend their winning run when they face Carlisle United on Friday.

Town have won their last three league games against Rochdale, Accrington Stanley and Bury, and will be looking to add a fourth against this week’s opponents.

But Callum McKenzie is expecting ‘a really tough game’.

He said: “It will probably be a different game to Bury.

“We’ll have to watch the game back from the start of the season, but they’re not as physical as Bury are.

“But they’re a good side; they’ve picked up some really good results recently.

“So, we’ll be expecting a really tough game.”

Shrewsbury will almost have a full squad to choose from on Friday, and McKenzie admits that it will be a difficult selection choice.

“It will be difficult to leave out any of the players from today (against Bury) because they all performed so well. Everyone is fit and fighting for places.

“We’ve also got U16’s and 15’s that are really fighting to be involved now on a match day. So, we’re in a really good position at the moment.

“It’s down to who trains well over the course of the week and we’ll pick a side that can hopefully win the game on Friday.”

These sides last faced each other back on the first day of the season; with both teams sharing the points after a 2-2 draw.

So, to get yourselves in the mood for Saturday’s away game at Gillingham, why not come down to the Shrewsbury Sports Village on Friday 12th April to watch the U18’s in action. Kick-off is at 1pm. Free admission.
