Greg Docherty Post Scunthorpe United

7 April 2019

Greg Docherty reflects on Town's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United.

Shrewsbury Town managed to secure a point against Scunthorpe United at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Town battled it out with the Iron to earn a 1-1 draw after going a goal down to the visitors.

Greg was pleased his team left the game with a point but feels his team deserved more from the tie.

“There is two ways you can look at it. If you look at the teams around us it’s a point gained,” said Greg.

“As a whole I do think it is two points dropped. Scunthorpe’s tactics were clear today and you could see how they wanted to play.

“They got themselves ahead and it was frustrating. We huffed and puffed and kept getting at them.

“We created a good number of chances. We will just move on with the point all things considered.

“At this stage of the season you just need to keep on going and keep building momentum.

“We have taken four points from two games, against teams that are around us – we will take that.

“We will go into next week full of confidence. There is no reason why we can’t go there and get a good result.

“We all know what’s at stake, they are in a similar position to us. We will be fully in for three points.”

Greg is looking forward to the next fixture and hopes his team can build on the recent good form.

“We are moving upwards and we have another game next week,” said Greg.

“It’s going to be tight and it’s going to be nervy, but we need to come away with a result.

“We have a number of difficult games, but there is five games left and we really need to put a marker down now.

“We all back each other and we know the quality in the team, so we need to just keep on going and gather momentum.

“Three points would have been nice but all things considered, we will take the point.”
