James Bolton Post Coventry City

29 April 2019

James Bolton reflects on Town's 1-1 draw with Coventry City.

Shrewsbury Town managed to secure a draw against Coventry City to guarantee the Club’s Sky Bet League One status.

Fejiri Okenabirhie scored a second-half equaliser and Town held out against the Sky Blues.

James Bolton was pleased with the result and felt his team deserved to leave the Ricoh Arena with a point.

“I am relieved we are over the line,” said James. “Some people were saying we were safe but I don’t like it unless it’s mathematically impossible.

“I was pleased we managed to do it and it takes a little bit off Saturday. You don’t want to be going into that game needing something.

“They will be fighting for their lives, so we have to just go into it an do what we can to get the win.

“I had it in my head that I wasn’t going to watch any Sky Sports but I ended up watching it all day.

“But like I said, it was nice for us to get ourselves over the line today. We weren’t brilliant first-half.

“When it’s one nil you are always in the game and have a chance. We were all saying this is still within our reach.

“We came out with a little more desire in the second-half and limited them to very few chances.”

James also noted the fans support and is looking forward to the final home game of the season.

“The fans came out in their numbers today. There was a lot of them,” said the defender.

“Fair play to them. It’s always nice to give back to them and be safe. I think they can sleep a little bit easier now.

“We can all go into Saturday now and enjoy it. They will be getting the atmosphere going.

“Rival games are always a little bit tasty. There is less pressure on us but I want to win – it’s as simple as that.

“It’s all about attitude now and we have to make sure we do everything right this week.”
