Sam Ricketts reflects on the Supporters Parliament Player of the Season Awards.
Shrewsbury Town hosted the annual Supporters Parliament Player of the Year Awards at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
With over 200 supporters in attendance awards were presented to the Shrewsbury Town squad to acknowledge their efforts over the season.
Sam Ricketts enjoyed the event and feels its important for the players to engage and meet their supporters.
“The End of Season Awards are always a good event,” said Town’s manager. “It’s good to see those who have travelled to a lot of games getting together with the players.
“It’s good for the players to receive awards but more importantly for the players to spend time with the supporters.
“It’s always good to see the players mingling with the supporters, so it’s a really good event.
“The players really do appreciate the support and they only play football because they love the sport.
“It’s always good to have the supporters backing you and supporting you. These events are great for them to spend time with the players.
“We only get to do what we do because of the supporters and it’s important that we give back on nights like tonight. Hopefully everyone enjoyed it.”
