Sam Ricketts previews Town's clash with Coventry City.
Shrewsbury Town are on the road this weekend as the Shrews take on Coventry City.
Town will be looking to end this season’s away days on a high with a win against the Sky Blues.
Sam Ricketts feels his team will have strong motivation going into the tie on the back of the last result.
“Everyone was disappointed last time out,” said Sam. “Myself, the players, everyone. It really felt like a body blow.
“Over the Easter weekend we were very good for three of the halves we played and the one we just weren’t quite at it.
“It was hugely disappointing at the time and the players felt it at the time but it’s gone.
“It’s really important that we pick the players back up and look forward to this weekend.
“Ultimately we have played well recently. You can’t dwell on it but you have to try and understand why and rectify it.
“We have to put it right and be ready for the weekend and the subsequent game.
“It has been a funny week with us playing on the Monday and then getting ready for the Sunday.
“The big thing has been getting the players mentally refreshed again following the Easter weekend.”
Sam is expecting a tough test from his former club but feels the Shrews have enough to secure the win.
“We are now preparing for what is a really big game against Coventry,” said Town’s manager. “They have some very exciting forward players.
“They are very fluid and youthful in their attack and are very good at it as well. They’re a team who have been playing really, really well recently.
“They score a number of goals. You look at them and think there is some really good quality – especially in the attacking areas.
“They have players like Bright Enobakhare. He was playing for Wolves in the first part of last season.
“We will be looking at everything. We will look at what the team try to do and look at what individual strengths they have.”
