Sam Ricketts previews Town's fixture against Scunthorpe

Shrewsbury Town next take on Scunthorpe United in the Sky Bet League One.

Town will be looking to make it two consecutive wins after a 2-0 win on the road against Southend United.

Sam was pleased his team turned a good performance into a win and hopes to see that form carried on.

“It was a massive three points for us,” said Sam. “The performance was good, albeit not great.

“The most pleasing thing was that we managed to grind out a win, which we haven’t really been able to do.

“Generally when we have won, it’s been due to us playing well to get that win.

“It’s not easy going away from home, especially as they had just sacked their manager. Having a caretaker in charge can sometimes boost performance levels.

“The second-half was more us and we managed to get the two goals. After that it was just a case of seeing the game out.

“We always want to play well but more now more than ever it’s important to back those performances up with a result."

Sam is expecting a tough test from the Iron but feels his team have more than enough to secure all three points.

“It will be a tough game,” said Town’s manager. “There has been big changes since the FA Cup game.

“It will be a tough game but one we are looking forward to. Them having a caretaker could give them a lift.

“When managers go it can give a bounce effect straight away. We will look at everything, as much information as we can.

“He (Andy Dawson) will have certain traits as manager but ultimately it comes down to what players he has available.

“We are looking forward to the game and looking forward to the opportunity of putting in another good performance.”
