Shaun Whalley Signs New Deal

24 April 2019

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce that Shaun Whalley has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Shrewsbury Town are pleased to announce that Shaun Whalley has put pen to paper and signed a new two-year deal that will see him a the club until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The versatile midfielder has been a great servant to the club since signing from Luton in June 2015. Whalley has made over 150 appearances for the club and scored 23 goals.

Speaking to Shrewsweb today, Whalley expressed how happy he was to have committed his future to the club.

"Yes I'm glad we've managed to get it done," Shaun said. "I'm glad I can stay here for another couple of years now and hopefully have some good times.

"I had interest from elsewhere but I really wanted to stay at Shrewsbury so I'm glad it's all done now.

"The fans support has been great ever since I've come in, they've taken to me, I've been here for four years now, and the new deal will make it six but yeah they've been great and I'm delighted to be here.

"I'm a loyal person and I've always wanted to stay here. The manager has taken to me since he's come in and I've taken to him. We both get on well with each other, that's a massive reason why I'm staying because I believe in the manager.

"The club means a lot to me, obviously I want to see us doing better in the league. The year before was an amazing year and I just want to help replicate that year again however I want us to get promoted next time. It's going to be a tough ask but I believe in the manager to do as well as he can.

"I feel like I've done really well for Shrewsbury and they've done really well for me so I want to continue that."
