Tyrese Campbell Wins EFL Young Player of the Month Award

8 April 2019

Tyrese Campbell reflects on winning the EFL's Young Player of the Month award.

Shrewsbury Town are pleased to confirm Tyrese Campbell has been named the EFL Young Player of the Month for February.

The striker arrived from Stoke City on-loan in January and has since scored three goals in nine matches for Town.

The 19-year-old is pleased to have won the award and hopes to keep helping his team during the remainder of his loan spell.

“It’s great that my work in the league has been recognised,” said Tyrese. “I just hope I can push on and keep scoring goals to help the team.

“I was shocked when I found out and I didn’t believe it at first. I got it and I am very happy.

“It was a good month for me and I scored a few goals. We played well, so we need to get back to that now.”

He added: “The team have helped me settle in and helped me understand the way we want to play and how things work here.

“I am still learning and this is my first proper season in professional football, so I am just trying to learn as much as I can.

“There is a lot of quality in this league. You have to prepare differently for every team. It’s been a good experience so far.

“I just want to help the team, that’s my main goal – hopefully I can score some more goals too.”
