Gilo On England Call-Up

30 August 2019

The England U20 squad was announced this morning and Ryan Giles has got his first international call-up.

The Young Lions will play games against the Netherlands at the Montgomery Waters Meadow and then travel to Basel to take on the Swiss.

England boss Keith Downing has moved up to take the U20s job and Ryan will be looking to impress him.

It is the first England call-up for Ryan and he is looking forward to the experience.

"I'm very, very happy with it being my first England call-up and delighted to get it", said Ryan.

"It's been a case of continuing to work hard and I've had a good start to the season at Shrewsbury.

"That has been noticed and has played a big part in me getting this call-up."

The call-up is the next step of the Wolves loanee career development as he gets the chance to step out on the international stage.

"Playing international football is the next step in my career and is good to have on your profile", said Ryan.

"I'm delighted to get the chance and now I'm in the squad it's up to me to show why I've been chosen.

"The next step is to prove to the England manager that I have got enough to stay in the squad.

"It's now down to me to do what I can to impress and stay in there."

It will be a big honour for Ryan when he gets the chance and one that this family will be proud of.

"It will mean a lot to me to put that England shirt on but also a lot to my family and especially my dad", said Ryan.

"It is a big thing to get that chance and to get one now is a big thing and will give a lot of pride and I've just for to go out there and give it my all."
