Sam Ricketts pre Rotherham United

12 August 2019

Town welcomes Rotherham United on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup first round.

In recent years Town have done well in cup competitions and will once again be looking to get on a good cup run.

Rotherham will prove a tough test after narrowly dropping out of the Sky Bet Championship last season. They are one of the sides tipped to do well this season in many pre-season previews.

It is a game that Town are looking forward to after the disappointment of a late defeat away to MK Dons on Saturday.

Town manager Sam Ricketts is looking forward to having a game so quickly after Saturday's.

"We are back at it straight away after the weekends game with MK Dons", said Sam.

"We might be a bit light on numbers and with Ro-Shaun coming off that will be another one.

We will get ourselves ready to go again on Tuesday night.

The Carabao Cup is a competition that has seen clubs from Sky Bet League One and Two do well over previous seasons. Town have had great games in the competition recently and Sam is hoping that this season will see another one.

"You have seen lower league sides get to the quarter, semi and even the final of the Carabao Cup in recent years", said Sam.

"There is the opportunity there for clubs to progress well in it.

"We will go into the game as we do with every game and look to win.

"We will assess the players after the weekend to see if anyone has any niggles and will take it from there."
