Peterborough Fixture Postponed Due To International Call-Ups

30 August 2019

Shrewsbury’s fixture against Peterborough United on Saturday, September 7th has been postponed due to international call-ups

Aaron Pierre, Omar Beckles and Ryan Giles have all been named for their respective national squads and, as a result, we have therefore been granted the right to have the match postponed by the EFL.

Aaron Pierre who currently has the prestigious honour of captaining his country has been called up by Grenada along with Omar Beckles who will join up with the Caribbean side for the first time.

Ryan Giles will feature for England U20s with his first game coincidently being at the Montgomery Waters Meadow on September the 5th as the Three Lions take on the Netherlands.

Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts is pleased to see his players being recognised by their countries.

“It’s a great honour to play for your country and I’m really pleased for them all”, said Sam.

“It shows how well they have been playing for Shrewsbury Town to be called up by their countries.

“With the Peterborough game now postponed that gives a little extra time for some of the players to get over their injuries.”

Information on a rearranged date for Town’s encounter against Peterborough United will be confirmed once finalised.
