Waterfall Moves On

15 August 2019

Shrewsbury Town can confirm that Luke Waterfall has left the club after the two parties came to an agreement on the remainder of his current contract.

Luke joined the club in the summer of 2018 and went on to be a near ever-present in the Town side last season, making 54 appearances.

Sam Ricketts has bolstered his defence over the summer with the addition of Aaron Pierre and Ethan Ebanks-Landell to play alongside Ro-Shaun Williams in a back three.

ShrewsWeb spoke to Sam to get his thoughts on Luke moving on.

"I couldn't guarantee Luke to start games this year and because of the character he is he wants to just play football", said Sam.

"An opportunity has come up closes to where he lives and it's something that he is interested in.

"We are pleased for him and thank him for all his hard work during his time here."

Luke played a big part in the Town side that last year that secured Sky Bet League One football. The gaffer had nothing but praise for Luke and wished him well for the future.

"He's a great lad, a real salt of the earth, and you couldn't ask for a better lad to have around", said Sam.

"He was great for us last year and was a wholehearted player who gave his all.

"He is one of the most dominant players I have seen in the air in both boxes, he wins 90% of his challenges anywhere on the pitch."

Everyone at Shrewsbury Town would like to wish Luke well for the future and thank him for his hard work and dedication during his time at the club.
